The tax on the German nuclear: a threat for electricity prices?

On September 6th 2010, the Merkel government has agreed to extend the lifetime of nuclear plants in exchange of a tax estimated at 2.3 billion of euros per year. This tax should be supported by the producers. In Europe, opinions about this new tax and the lifetime extension of the nuclear differ from one countries to an other. Considered as a “cheap” energy, leaving the nuclear will also have an impact on electricity prices. |
